Rescue Mission

Jesus took on the mission of coming to earth to rescue us. He is the first Missionary and our great example. Following His footprints, our foundation, Changing a Generation has a mission to rescue the forgotten children of the world. One of our sponsorship programs is located in Ghana, West Africa. Below is a heart-moving story written by my friend Nanette Neely who recently returned from a trip there. We would love to hear your comments!

For the second year in a row I was privileged to go to Ghana, West Africa with a small team from New Song Community Church representing Changing a Generation-One Life at a Time. We worked with Chief Nana Dapaah in setting up the structure for fund transfers and finding responsible parties to oversee the children's schooling. On our trip we saw so many things that touched our hearts, but what broke my heart the most was a question that a teacher in the village of Bamboi asked….."What do we tell the girls?"

What do we say when the girl is hungry?
We have no food so we turn her away.

What do we say when the girl has no books?
We have no money so away we look.

What do we say when the girl's stomach growls?
There is no rice, there are no yams.

What do we say when the girl goes searching for something to fill
The hollow, empty place where food should be?

What do we say when her dreams are dashed?
There will be no education to lift her out of this place.

What do we say when the girl begs for tuition,
Wanting to bring her ambitions to fruition?

What do we say to this beautiful girl child?

What do we say to these daughters of Bamboi?

Proverbs 24:11-12
"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. If you say, "But we knew nothing about this," does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards you life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?"

-Nanette Neely
Changing a Generation is starting a new mission rescue operation in Ghana-- we would like to give as many girls as possible the opportunity to receive education.

Will you become a Mission Rescue Partner with us?
